How did you start your debt repayment journey?
After being in debt for years, and looking the other way. A few back to back personal emergencies made me realize how bad things have gotten. This led me to logging into every account I own and start my journey, listing each debt one by one, interest and minimum payment, and all.
What mindset shifts have been crucial for you?
Acceptence and patience have been a huge part in my journey. I accepeted the state of dire financial trouble I am in and patiently am planning out how I will get out and free myself.
How do you stay motivated during setbacks?
I’m just starting this journey, so motivation is high right now. I will come back update this and create posts that reflect.
What tools do you use to manage your finances?
A purchased an Excel spreadsheet that helped me layout all my debts, interest rates and payments. While I intially was trying to use this document, it is a little glitchy and for now I’m just using a normal Excel spreadsheet to list and visualize the payments and balances.
How do you handle unexpected expenses?
My journey has just begun so this will be something I’ll learn along the way. Will update this FAQ when the time comes.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out?
Start small and be consistent. Every little bit counts, and over time, it adds up to significant progress. Just get started.
