May was another month of grinding. While I didn’t hit my income targets for side hustles, I did bring in extra cash—and every dollar helped cover bills, reduce debt, and push me a step closer to financial freedom.

Here’s how my side hustle income broke down this month:

💼 Consulting

  • Total Earned: $390
My consulting work continues to be a reliable side hustle, and I’ve started putting in extra hours to increase my income in this area.

📦 Reselling

Date/SourceAmount
Various platforms (eBay, OfferUp, Facebook)$12
$19.80
$25.50
$17
$10
$11
$17
$11

Total Reselling Income: $123.30

I didn’t list as consistently as I could’ve, but I’m seeing sales slowly trickle in. For June, I’m doubling down with more listings across eBay, Facebook Marketplace, and OfferUp, and even considering a garage sale to clear out inventory and generate quick cash. Some things I was able to sell (all things from around my house, no new items were sourced): CD or Vinyl Records, Books, clothes and random knick knacks. You can see from the breakdown of prices of items sold, they are not huge amounts but it added up.

💸 Other Extra Income

  • Rakuten Cashback: $96.32
  • Unexpected Homeowner’s Insurance Refund: $314.62

It’s always a great surprise when a check shows up that you weren’t expecting. That refund helped cover a utility bill and let me redirect a little more toward debt payments.

🧩 Side Hustle Total for May:

$390 (Consulting) + $123.30 (Reselling) + $96.32 (Rakuten) + $314.62 (Refund)
= $924.24 Total Extra Income

🔄 Earning Smarter, Not Just Harder

Based on the side hustle goals I set in this post, I’m happy to share that I hit my May goal of $750 in extra income! 🎉

While part of that came from an unexpected homeowner’s insurance refund, I still crushed my target—and that win gave me the momentum and motivation I need to go even harder in June.

To keep the extra income flowing, here are the small but steady habits I’ve been maintaining:

  • 📸 I scan receipts with Fetch Rewards to build up points I can redeem for gift cards
  • 🛍 I always check Rakuten before online purchases to earn cash back
  • ₿ I use Lolli to collect free Bitcoin—no purchase required! With BTC reaching new highs recently, I’m holding onto what I’ve earned in hopes of a bigger payout later
  • 🧠 I regularly submit applications for surveys and research studies that offer compensation
  • 💰 I recently started using Debbie, an app that rewards you with real cash for completing tasks and learning about debt payoff strategies

As of now, I’ve earned $42 with Debbie—just $8 away from my first cashout. I’ll be doing a full review soon, but so far, it’s been a fun and motivating way to stay engaged in my debt-free journey.

🎯 Looking Ahead to June

In June, my side hustle strategy includes:

  • Pushing myself to list daily on resale platforms
  • Hosting a garage sale or two
  • Taking on more consulting hours
  • Staying consistent with cashback apps and survey submissions
  • Hitting my Debbie cashout goal

Even though my side hustle income isn’t massive (yet), it’s working. And every little bit is helping me build momentum toward the life I want—debt-free, financially secure, and full of possibility.
