Hey friends ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผโ€”this week, Iโ€™m sharing a real look at my grocery list, meals Iโ€™ll be prepping, and how Iโ€™m keeping costs low while fueling up for workouts and staying on track with my debt-free goals.

Whether you’re budgeting, meal prepping, or just trying to make smarter food choices, I hope this helps you get inspired (and maybe save a little ๐Ÿ’ต too)!

Hereโ€™s what I picked up this week:

    • Side dish for dinners ๐Ÿฅ”
    • Using inside my Japanese Curry
    • Pre-run/pre-workout carb option ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ
    • Estimated: 4+ servings
  • Egg Whites (6 cartons) โ€“ $10.99 (1 carton has 10 servings)
    • Used for daily breakfasts ๐Ÿณ
    • 3 servings of egg whites + 1 whole egg daily = protein-rich start
  • Carton of Eggs โ€“ $5.00 ( I had a coupon, otherwise this would have cost me closer to $7.00 for Pasture Raised Eggs)
    • For breakfast, baking, or quick meals ๐Ÿง๐Ÿณ
  • Boxed Curry Roux Japanese style – ~3.5
  • Bagged Carrots – $.99

๐Ÿงพ Total Cost (Roughly): ~$30 for the week

*** Note items I purchased in bulk and have in my pantry I don’t break down in weekly avg cost, but can include items purchased earlier in the month or previous month for transparency. These are usually non perishables or frozen items that last a while.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Weekly Meal Plan Preview

Hereโ€™s how Iโ€™m using the ingredients above and some items already in my pantry or refrigerator.

Breakfast ๐Ÿณ

  • Egg whites & one egg
  • Wonton soup made with Bone Broth and frozen mini dumplings I had in pantry (these are not included in my grocery budget, but I would estimate its about less than $1.5 for my bowl wonton soup I have readily in rotation of quick foods I heat up.
  • Optional: a sprinkle of cheese (if already on hand) as well as hot sauce.

Lunch & Dinner ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ

  • Ground Turkey Stir Fry with green beans & sauce (4 servings)
  • Garlic Green Beans as a side
  • Japanese Curry with rice
  • Baby Potatoes with turkey or eggs for balanced meals

Snacks/Fuel ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

  • Baby potatoes or boiled eggs for pre-run fuel
  • Hard-boiled eggs
  • Protein Shakes – I used to do Fairlife Protein Shakes, but am switching to Chocolate Whey Protein from Costco, Kirkland brand
  • Yogurt – Individual cups usually Oikos Triple Zero or Chobani Sugar Free cups from Costco.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Budget Tips I Follow

โœ… Check Weekly Ads โ€“ I browse digital circulars to find whatโ€™s on sale before I plan.
โœ… Visit Multiple Stores โ€“ Sometimes, Iโ€™ll hit 2 different stores for the best deals
โœ… Stick to Staples โ€“ I rotate a few core ingredients and mix them up with sauces or spices

๐Ÿ’ก Ibotta Shoutout!
I also use Ibotta to get cashback on select grocery items (some weeks itโ€™s just a few cents, but it adds up). If you want to try it out, hereโ€™s my referral link โ€” I get a small commission at no extra cost to you. Do not feel pressured to sign up. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

๐Ÿง  Why This Works for Me

Meal prepping with simple ingredients helps me:

  • Save money ๐Ÿ’ต
  • Avoid takeout temptation ๐Ÿ”
    • I was spending $20-35 + multiple times and meals a week from Doordash or Ubereats.
    • I’m trying to limit deliveries and eating out. I plan to only go to restaurants for birthdays or events of my close friends or family. Other than that, since it’s just me I will try to adhere to meal prepping ahead of time to save and stay on budget.
  • Stay consistent with health & fitness goals ๐Ÿ’ช
  • Prioritize paying down debt ๐Ÿ’ณ

Hope this gives you some budget grocery inspiration! I will try to do this at least once or twice a month to provide ideas and insights to how I am trying to save and budget.
